CREATIVITY...!!! What is That???

We are living in the 21st century, a time period where rapid changes are taking place in the entire universe and human is solely responsible for those modernizations. After all, we are the ones who have transformed this earth from the Stone Age to the Machine age. One of the major reasons that lead to all this is the upgradation in the way education is being imparted in the various institutes all around the planet. The Technology-enabled system has made the learning more interesting. If anyone wants to evaluate or judge any nation’s level of development, simply understand its educational system. The education which is imparted must make the recipient capable enough to achieve his/her dreams of the future.

Creativity is something that if you don't use it, you lose it...!!!

I am simply talking about the skills and knowledge that one student must have after completing a particular course or degree from any institute whatsoever. The education must bring employment of some sort to the student. But this practice is highly missing nowadays. Educated unemployment is increasing day by day. Students today have all the world-class degrees and certificates in his portfolio, but lacks the basic skills that are demanded in the job. Job descriptions and Job specifications are getting mismatched with the Resume/CV of the candidate.

Recently, Co-Founder of APPLE, Mr. Steve Wozniak said that “Indians might purchase Audi or a Mercedes from his earnings, but they are lacking in Creativity”.

Strong back and forth statements were being exchanged against the statement Mr. Steve on social media platforms where it is shown that he is wrong or doesn’t know about Indians, simply not being able to accept the bitter truth. But I firmly believe that he hasn’t said anything wrong or incorrect. Whether we accept it or not, we are highly missing in terms of the required skills and creativity. Where a normal American is able to do multiple numbers of things such as Laundry, Poultry, Gardening, Designing, Arts, etc. Indians hardly focuses on such acts. I literally don’t know what they think about these activities, but if they are used properly, good business opportunities can be there. Our educational system heavily focuses on classroom teaching. Practical learning is difficult to trace. For the job seekers, the simple meaning of CV is ‘Ctrl + C and Ctrl + V’. Most of the Startups fail just because of the lack of proper entrepreneurial training. Yes, the government is taking major steps nowadays to boost the entrepreneurial elite in the dreamers, but still a long way to go.

Creativity lays the foundation for a successful business idea. But in India, major creativity comes from copying the business ideas from other countries. Gaana.com copied Spotify, Flipkart copied Amazon, OLA copied UBER and PayTM is also copied. No major big innovation is there from India probably in the whole last decade. Tata, Infosys are some of the major players that are doing a very good job, but then also we cannot rely heavily on them.

High Relaxations, Reservation System, Lack of Practical Language are some of the reasons behind the poor performance of students in the business and the corporate world. India’s traditional Gurukul System was much more effective than today’s educational system. Besides the bookish knowledge, students were being taught other things as well, such as defense, tradition, art, safety weapons, etc. and much more.

I won’t give my own recommendations regarding what to change and how to change but will ask a basic question.

What is your opinion regarding the statement made by Mr. Steve Wozniak about the Indians and the lack of creativity?

Give your answers in the comment box.
